Description:

Chasing

I see my life messed up
Young and I have a life that could be ruined
I need a friend that will keep me from being stuck
I want a future
And not be a loser
I don’t want to be chasing a future I could have

Trying to find the life I want
Trying to keep up
I don’t want my life to suck
I keep chasing and running
Running from a better life
I can’t keep chasing my life away

Everyone wants to be famous
To be known
But to be famous
You might just end up alone
I'm gonna keep runnin away
Because my life sucks anyway
Cause I cant keep chasing
What I cant get

Trying to find the life I want
Trying to keep up
I don’t want my life to suck
I keep chasing and running
Running from a better life
I can’t keep chasing my life away

I need a friend
And you wonder where people like me end up
Alone, depressed, without hope
So instead I get doped
Cant ruin what you never had

Trying to find the life I want
Trying to keep up
I don’t want my life to suck
I keep chasing and running
Running from a better life
I can’t keep chasing my life away

It cant keep going away
I don’t like chasing my life away
I just want to live a life that I can grab and hold on to
Cause this chase will have to end
And I might just lose

God, you must be American. Come and live in Australia, we don't give a damn here, everybody is famous an if youse don't have a good time somebody hits you until you do.

I am wondering whether this is a song lyric, because if it is, it might be a bit un-focussed' that is, it might cover too much ground - tell about too much all at once? Song audiences lose it after about one idea.

But if it's a literary "lyric", then it is successful except that maybe the verse-form could be more artificial. Even though there are stanzas, mostly six line, which is a good way to organize these expressions, this is still Free Verse not Lyric Verse ... which is really to be criticizing what you called it, rather than what it is, I guess! I mean, I usually like somebody's free verse more than I like their rhyme-and-metre. I think Free Verse is called Free because there is no penalty, neither for writing it nor for reading it!
