This is just reminiscing of what I consider home...Biloxi, MS. I grew up there and though I've lived in Alabama longer...it was where I first defined my personality. Its where most of my childhood memories remain.

So its hard not to look back on it.

    dotsI Remember Homedots

    I remember home
    Not where I live now
Or even where my folks reside
    No, home is somewhere else

    Past state lines
    A bit more south
    Just bordering the Gulf
    Where sea and land meet

    The sand can be felt
    Beneath your sneakers
    And all you can hear
    Is the crashing surf
    And the seagulls crying out
Like the babies of the beach

I can still feel the sun
    Trying to blister my skin
    Feel that ocean breeze
Refreshing with the bite of salt

But I can't hear the waves
    The breeze only carries
    The smell of the papermill
    And I can only wish
That I was at the beach
    Back home

I really liked this piece. It has such a melancholy, but peaceful tone. I really love the line about the papermill, it was just an interesting choice for a description, and I felt it worked perfectly. Good write, and keep it up. take a look at my works sometime.
