I sit, 3 others around the room
scrounging for thoughts. You can tell
easily because their eyes shift to the left.
Two others in the room stare at the holes in the ceiling.

I honestly never knew we were allowed to look up there
for answers, simply stated in a book.

"heal v. make or become well"

One more is in the room
flipping a tongue from the corner of the mouth,
    back inside
    and doodling the words.
It seems frantic, and its paper patient.
It knows, though, that the answer is wrong; its eyes
    bend to the right.

I stay, because most people aren't able to realize.

wow, i actually feel uncomfortable just thinking about your descriptions. i can feel myself in that room not wanting to be there.
could you explain what exactly inspired you?

a little confusing ma'am but ill give it my best shot. (my aim always tends to be a little to the right unless im playing darts, then the dart is stuck in the wall and not near the target at all..i digress, sorry)

this reminds me of studyhall in high school, we used to have it in the reference section of the library. we sit, no more than three to a table that had five chairs, practicing versions of state exams. student eyes would flicker about the room, just as described above. some searching for answers, some bored, etc.

your piece has a different take, implying that the answer is many and perhaps just a single person knows.

    i like the choice of:

heal v. make or become well.

it shows the versatality of the word depending on context.

she heals. she can either be the one healing some one else or it could be herself healing from an illness.

    very intriguing work.

I am not sure what to get from this and the message was a bit unclear, i had mixed feelings when reading it though, it is kind of like a puzzle that i am not sure how to decipher (is it decipherable?), the meaning eludes me (is there a meaning?). Although i can say this was quite interesting i am not quite sure how to critique it, hmm strange but sombre in a sense. A good write nontheless, thanks for sharing this.

    :-)
