One day while working in my garden I looked up to the sound of footsteps Coming toward me across the lawn But could see nothing. Bent once more to my task I became aware of the sound Of giggles and laughter hushed into a whisper The patter of tiny feet Brushing effortlessly upon the grass Rustling gently with the wind I saw them then There were two of them Chasing each other around In playful bursts of energy As the breeze blew them from place to place Dressed in green and brown Their arms slightly yellowed from the frost They tumbled merrily about in their game As though all spring and summer They had been held captive on their tree And now they were free The leaves were dancing |
Hey, I love plant personification. Although I have to admit that I guessed it was leaves before you said it. that's fine though. I was able to imagine the scene because the description was well written. | | Posted on 2004-07-20 00:00:00 | by Bloomsbury Set | [ Reply to This ] | i love reading about the coming autumn and the falling/dancing of the leaves! this was sweet. at first, i thought you were possibly seeing faeries... then again, these leaves are like little faeries dancing in the wind and playing tag with each other. autumn is my favorite season, and this has me excited with the anticipation! thanks! | ![]() | Posted on 2004-07-20 00:00:00 | by magnicat | [ Reply to This ] | |
