    dotsStrange Little Girldots

Title from Tori Amos' "Strange Little Girl"

She sets up a board game for one.

She hums to herself the songs in her head.

    She has conversations with characters
    from her dreams,
    and stories she read.

She picks up a pen and writes,
    and writes and writes
    until there is nothing left
    to write.

She picks up a brush and paints the sky
    with rainbows
    and stars that never fade.

    She smiles her secret smile,
    as she crosses the street
    holding on to the hands
    of air.

    She listens,
    closes her eyes and listens,
the sound of the train approaching.

    She takes a step forward,
    and joins her imaginary friends,

A little tame as far as subject matter goes, but well written. It's better to not try to sound over-sophisticated when what your actually saying is quite simple. Well done.

thank you for the comment. yeah, that's sorta me. I take the train to work everyday, and sometimes wonder what it would be like to jump in front of it.

this was bizarre, a bit frightening, makes your tummy feel all funny like its trying to say, "oh dear" but it was creative and well written. im thinking part of this little girl is you? humming songs to herself and rainbows and feeling like the black sheep. the last three verses were great, innocent and creepy. ha. but i really did love this. thought id leave some love.

    peace and love.
