Forever Never

She must never know How I truly feel. For this secret My lips are sealed. I try to hide it But give myself away. My body betrays me. My mind will run astray. I try to stay strong But I lose my head. My blood runs cold. My heart burns red. Her beautiful brown eyes Will glisten in the light. Her look takes my breathe And makes my chest tight. My pencil quivers At the thought of her embrace Emotions so strong A tear runs down my face So long I’ve wished to tell her That my love burns forever But the day this love is returned The 16th of never I fear this rejection It clouds my vision “Do I tell her or no?” How do I make this decision? We live on as barely friends Hardly any words are spoken So I cling to her in my dreams Pray to God I’m not awoken I choose to speak in the hall “You look so pretty.” My voice trails on My words not witty My fears realized You see how I play the part You see through my mask And bare witness to my heart This question you ask When I answer I shiver An ache in my head A pain in my liver I give up hope You already know the truth My mouth opens I speak “I love you.” At the sound of my words You run like the wind Only one thought in my mind Will I see you again?
