    dotsWhat Makes A Good Poet?dots
    -------------------------------------------

    What makes a good poet?
    Is it whats inside,
Or the skill to run and hide?

    Is it our educated minds,
    Or something we can't find?
Is poetry about the intricate word,
Or is it something we have heard?

    What makes a good poet?
Is it the life encounters we share,
Or the things we look at and stare?

    What makes a poem unforgettable?
Is it the passion or the emotion,
Or is it something that comes from personal corrosion?

Why are only a few truly known?
Is it the person behind it,
Or the ability to write a sonnet?

You are absolutely right. I think every poet should question themselves in this aspect. What is it that makes a good poet? Fame and fortune? Experiences or talent? An accepted education? Or is it passion, intensity, creativity? As an excellent poet once told me, "I think that the greatest art conforms to no standards or rules. To every creator their own rules, I say."

Yes indeed all these things make a good poet i would say but mostly i would say a uniqueness in words and a sure way to portray everyday life experiences in a new non clichéd way, to weave the words into intricacy but also in a not too obscure way so that everyone can relate but only a certain few that dare look deeper can see alternative meanings.

    :-)
