    dotsPuppet girldots

    see her smile
    see her dance
    ignore the strings
    and the unpleasant things

watch as she twirls and pirouettes
watch as she bends to their will
    they laugh and cheer
    never looking into her eyes
    they ignore the fear

She wishes she knew what would make her happy
    despirately she chases that feeling
but all she knows is what they tell her
and her world is bound by their strings

over the years the face in the mirror begins to crack
as she becomes aware of the truth
    the strings tug and manipulate
    never relenting
    never fraying

    day after day she dances
looking in the mirror night after night
    and seeing the cracks
    waitikng for the day
when it will be her turn
the day she will be freed from the strings
and granted her pair of wings
