dotsSpring; no miracle here ( the intensity of buds )dots

Iím not going to sit here and write another poem about spring
As if this year I could capture and define
    Its meaning

As if this year the season will be changing
And my perception of time is defined by its passing

Another chorus and cavalcade of beauty is emerging
    Another awakening

Descriptions lose it in the bland mediocre
    Of capturing its colour
Nor do they grasp the intensity of buds

It is another year marked by procession
And another year when its heart will not be captured

    It will fall away
With all the promises of summer

    Moments forgotten in shopping malls
Or driven by diesel into the same mindless fall
Romanticised to the burgeoning of wonderful

    What should I do
Type out more words of sheer continuance

Did last spring have anything more
Or did I lose it as this one will end

And never grasp the intensity of buds

It is the death of leaves being born
    The withering of flowers

    And all their beauty
    Their captured expressions of life
Chemistry, formulation, growth, purpose and invincible

To be reduced to a poem
    A greeting card of spring
