The Gambler

when i get my time,
i find i'm alone
but i don't mind the silence at all,
cause i'm keeping a locked door-
so call your name into my hollow heart
but no reply will be heard.
only the echo will remain.
won't let you drag me down
into your darkness
I'll stand on my own this time.

this love is poison
& it's dead and faded now
you've taken all i can give
but still you ask for more
you've been playing with puppets on strings
& now mine are frayed and torn.

you've played every hand,
you've played every game.
no tricks left in your pockets.
just heavy with shame,
& nothing to left to show
but my broken heart
& a noose around your throat.
