It's funny how you think your in love
Then you bounce out of it so quickly
Realizing it wasn't love at all
Maybe you really just wanted the excuse to have sex and not seem like a whore
Maybe you just wanted to feel loved
I don't know what it is but once the honeymoon stage is over...it's definitely over
The love you thought you had turned to hate
Feelings and memories turned to dust
Back at square one is where you stand
Feeling bad that you broke up
Definitely glad that it's now over
Funny how life strikes you I guess
I'm just glad I passed my honeymoon stage
And I am still just as in love with you as before
Phew!! That was a close one

That was pretty good, I was reading it thinking "aint that the truth" then the last two lines kinda jerk ya in the other direction. Because I was relating to the whole "wanted to have sex and not feel like a whore" line you had, so you kind of get this idea that oh aint love grand, but really love doesnt even begin until after the honeymoon cause before you get married, well, in my opinion, It's just all about makin' WHOOPIE!

What a wonderful idea to write a poem about! I know so many people like this that fall in love with nothing but sunny skies and then fall out of love the second the storm appears. It is bizarre, but extremely common. I think we are all just looking for that special someone and desperately just want to believe we have found them.

I like the little twist at the end and how you reflect on yourself and your own experiences.

I have also made it out of the honeymoon stage in my current relationship... and it is exciting now to see if this is it.

Anyways, thanks for sharing. I enjoyed it and it has given me something to really think about in regards to my own life.

one of my best friends is like this, i like her more than she knows, but i digress and continue to be her friend, not stepping over that boundary, she falls in "love" so quick when that "honeymoon stage" falls down she comes to me to rant and cry. all and all lifes to short to get hung up on details besides the fact, do what you want to do, i hate watching her hurt herself even more so as i am here to be a safe place but ill wait, and help her till shes ready. keep your head up
