    dotsSong of the Pirate's Ghostdots

Down seven sets of seven stairs
I've heard his peg leg thump along,
Odd ditties and strange ghostly airs
Fill my sleepy head with song.

So long ago I shot him dead,
One-eyed John the seas cold scourge,
And laid him in a loamy bed,
Where only crickets sing his dirge.

On certain nights I hear his clump,
He's come for me, now, once again,
His peg leg sounding, thump, thump, thump,
Hes back within the world of men!

I take my pistol, filled with dread,
For can it be as it now seems?
Old one-eyed John back from the dead?
Such nights I wake here full of screams.

Yet now the wind is howling loud,
I hear him on the seventh stair!
He stands before me in his shroud
And yet I know there's nothing there!

Down seven sets of seven stairs
I've heard his peg leg thump along,
Odd ditties and strange ghostly airs
Fill my sleepy head with song.

Outstanding! This poem not only has words that rhyme and sing, but it is replete with sounds and strong word pictures. The ghosts of those leveled in combat forever haunt their slayers!

The story told is magnificent, and the poem delightful to read!

To use your word .... Bravo!

I love your poems. Honestly, you should bottle this. Every line of this poem entertained me; not in a haha way, it just uses the medium so well. It's like a magic trick, your use of storytelling and pacing is brilliant. This is the kind of thing you could show to someone who doesn't even read poetry, and they would see what they're missing.
