    dotsImpairment by Nausea dots

    I feel sick again
But sick is an implacable wall of silence
    I could throw up
    Just by opening the door
    But I find
    There is an habitual need
    To leave this room

I feel sick and walking on nerves
I walk with my back to the street full of cars
    There are too many people
    Outside my room
    Too many of them
Standing at the bar like grey statues
    I feel so sick
    My hands shake

I try hard to calm myself
    I am alright
But the room is an incommunicado of faces
    And furtive glances
    I feel sick
Maintain your appearance of self collected-ness
Roll a cigarette, breathe slow, calm yourself
Why didn’t I stay at home and watch a film

This thick gluey time will pass
Almost with relief at the bottom of my glass
I am assured that the world is alive somewhere
    But not here
    As I stare into nothing
And at my back feel the room encroaching
And too much conversation rising to an occasion
The cold speech of something I might have said
Sticking hooked at the back of my tongue

The awful implacable wall is passing
Slipping back into its nestled secret hole
    And dripping with urgency
Forces me to buy another drink
    I will not give in
Though the fight has already been

    The bubble is reforming itself
    Lifting up its blank barricade
And life is at least happening somewhere
    Just not here
