    Description:
Sunny was an older man with an addiction. But he taught me so much, including the fact that just because you screwed up, you are still only human. He was a Father to me when I needed one most. He was the ONLY person to never give up on me, no matter how much I screwed up, and he never stopped trying to get me to do right. He recently went home where pain cannot reach him. Now he can watch over me when i can't run from him. He went out like a soldier and he died free of his addiction. I lost a father but gained an angel.

I met a man many years ago
In the midst of an ugly addiction
His first look to my face, he had already known
The pain in my eyes was a similar affliction

Out on the streets, no roof for my head
This man took me in with no money to spare
If it wasn't for him, I'd surely be dead
He saved me from a life that I couldn't bare

    Together we were sick
    And together we got well
Our love for the needle and its wondrous prick
Took us down to the very depths of hell

    Through mistakes of his past
He couldn't bare to see me go down
He assured his love would always last
And sent me away, military bound

He convinced me my life was far from over
He convinced me I was worth more than I can see
All he wanted was to see me get sober
And to become the woman I was meant to be

I met a man in the darkest of years
Back in the day when nothing was funny
The light of his heart would smother my fears
For only he could live up to a name like Sunny

This is a great tribute to Sunny. Makes me think of people in my life who have been great friends. Thanks for the feeling.
