This isn't a poem. ok, this is for the people affected by floods in Queensland... I want this mess to get fixed. I may be an insignificent kid, but sometimes life just isn't fair.

Please don't get mad at me. This isn't a poem or anything. I need to vent and I need to put my thoughts somewhere.

Queensland has been known for its floods. I have been in Australia for three years and two days. I call this place a third/second home. South East Queensland has been hit by floods, if you didn't already know. Places like Toowoomba, have been hit, areas like Lockyer Valley where there are towns built up. Flash flood warnings are everywhere on TV. 9 people have perished while 66 people are still missing.

Brisbane is next... overnight, there will be three metre floods and in the next two days the floods are set to reach and/or exceed the 1974 flood disaster levels. The Brisbane River banks have burst and around 9,000 homes (at least) are at risk.

I moved from Brisbane a few months ago. I lived there for two and 3/4 years... I have many, many close friends and family living there.

There are flash flood warnings for everywhere. Even North of where I live, in areas like Cairns and Innisfail and Babinda, there are warnings. North and South of where I live is flooded.

So, this one is for my friends and family. I want to know if you guys are okay... I haven't talked to you guys for months and that was probably very selfish of me... I love you guys and I hope nothing happens to you. I wish that this can get fixed up in time, lickety-split.

The area around my old school has been affected too... And people are trapped in other areas, unable to evacuate.

Even Tony Abbott and Julia Gillard are agreeing with each other; "this is no time for politics"

Please, please, please let this mess be fixed up soon...

I feel somewhat guilty that I'm safe here while all my friends, family and a region face a great disaster.

I want to know how you guys are. What's going on. How badly you've been affected.

I just want to know you're alive and okay.

I've been through a flood in Guyana, South America a few years ago. It was bad for Guyana but it wasn't as bad as what's happening in Australia. My heart goes out to all your loved ones. I hope they're okay and that this will end soon as well. Water is a force that leads to major destruction. I fear the fact that our world is filled with so much water. There's nothing we can do to stop it.

Stay strong for your sake and for the others around you.

i was just reading this morning about the flash floods/flooding in australia as well as browsing through the pictures.

water is a force to be reckoned with. this i know.
i live on a river. just before i moved here, there were 3 major floods in a 2 year span. the damage done was amazing to say the least. devastating, really.

my heart goes out to those displaced, killed, or missing.
