Description:

Monday is falling out of the sky and never landing,
and never feeling your stomach again...
Monday's Only Perk: No Food Required
Monday's Biggest Bummer: It Kills You.

A Monday Condition

Wednesday was Monday, but so was Thursday...
Everyday feels like Monday when there's no one home
but you. And I really do
hate Mondays, but just on some days, so if I seem
manic it's just from this panic of repeating patterns, so
please don't get me wrong...
It seems that I remember while being together,
sometimes you'd rather have some quiet space
to sit and think and blink and drink and sim-
ply be
a-
lone...

If Friday feels like Monday, I guess by Monday
if I feel Monday-ish, I will call the shrink
and try to think of some way best to express
my instinct that I think Monday's killing me, I think
my thinking tank just blew a
freaking
fuse...
my ment-
al plane is los-
ing alti-
tude...

And he'll say how Monday is supposed to feel like Monday,
and I'll say Funny, but every day's been Monday
and no, it's not the funnest day, but I guess in a way
it beats feeling Sunday-ways, 'cuz all day Sundays
you're just waiting for Monday to loom
and drop some son-
ic
BOOM...

we don't have those 'monday morning feelings' here in Oman, because we go back to work on saturday. so our thank god it's friday, reads: thank god its wednesday.... it will take me forever to get my head around our weekend. they have a tgifridays in dubai and all the kids apparently eat there from time to time ...
i asked the kids if anyone had thought about changing tgifriday to tgiwednesday and they thought i was weird.
anyway, i digress.
i enjoyed this hilarious dose of misery, a lot. i have never really hated mondays. when i was at boarding school i used to absolutely detest sundays (esp sundays in winter) and longed for them to be over. so never could relate to bob geldorf and his boomtown rats. it does not prevent me from enjoying this.

  okay this moves...moves moves.

stream of consciousness...alliteration the whole nine yards, the break up of words...
i'm tipping a bit, maybe my drink
maybe the therapist is getting dizzy...maybe saturday is a good day to stop and wonder why every other day feels like "manic monday" thank you Bangles... "i think i'll go walk like an egyptian" again

this keeps folding inside itself...

i'll go make an appointment now.

  Seriously, I LOVE YOU.

At the moment I love my psychiatrist, I do, I do. He's half-therapist-- I think that offsets the evil all shrinks carry.

Mondays are a [censored].

I love how measured and frustrated this is, like a whirlpool, sucking you into its depths. The repetition, rhyme, half-rhyme, alliteration-- you have it all, and still, though this is technically a bleak poem, it's hilarious, it has such verve.

(Verve is my word of the word. It's kinda obsolete. I want to bring it back, BACK MAN).

When things are [censored], but like, really [censored], and you think I'm going mad, I'm going mad, I cannot cope, well you need a little humour, I learned that at this therapeutic community I was in, we have to, had to, have to laugh at this. Or it will kill us.

Suicide jokes are my favourite. Not least because they put everyone else on edge. My friend Louisa is the best at them.

Sonic boom- I love how bold that boom is. Mania's a [censored], and then some. Bold. I dig how it's bold, I do.

I've already told you today that you rock my socks so I won't repeat myself.

Ah, feck it.

YOU ROCK MY SOCKS.

I love your writing. It's a balm.

K.
