    -------------------------------------------

I have seen them come and go, like willows
billowing over into the musty waters
    of the Waikato—past the jetboats
of old men reliving youth, but
    with more money to spend,
    more time to bend
    and fuss over.

Before, as young men, covert operators,
spies for some novel yet to be read—
they still follow in the footsteps
    of the greatest Bond ever,
    in hopes they'll be raised
    upon pedestals
    of flesh.

They've yet to realise, internalise the passions
given to them by their parents, by the soft
    curve of subconscious statements, like
salt rubbed vicariously into a wound—
    the sting reminding us all
    of burning
    blue.

I have seen them come and go, the 4x4's piled
upon the sands of Port Waikato: sweat
    and energy absorbed, bodies soaring
into the lucent skies of Aotearoa—
    white clouds, unfurling
    in this swirl of life
    unwinding.

thanks for this..i read the "wild bees" piece...

such good stuff....something plath would have loved, since she was a beekeeper and wrote many poems about them...

and your poem seems to liken humans to bees...we swarm, we sting, we fly , we die.

and in the process life stings us...we pass ourselves in the process of living, and still think we are youthful even when we have faded and are about to leave the hive of life for good.

as always you make me think deeply with your work...and i search for answers and an understanding of life through your words.
