No matter what love does to us, we still go back, we still defend it, we still miss it, we still see the good side to it.

    Oh love,
    my sweet innocent love
    You imprison my emotions
    You terrorise my soul
    You break my spirit
The hostage taker of my heart
    Your cold uncertainty,
    pressed against the
    back of my head
    Those final words,
    heavy as lead,
    clicking ever closer;
    until the moment you
    finally set me free

    Do I mistake your lack
    of outright abuse,
    as benignity?
    More than once,
    you've held my life
    in your hands,
    but never took it
    Such dignity
    You once again leave me,
    broken, beaten
    and all alone
    Still I believe in you
    Still I defend you
    Like someone with
    Stockholm Syndrome

there is physical abuse, mental abuse and emotional abuse...

and some accept one or all, and just can't seem to understand why...those on the outside question them...why do you stay? there is some weird attachment, some kind of security as lame as it is to be abused...

and often this parallels with the heart being abused and going back for more...

we latch on to significant others, give them heart and let them use and abuse..but we forgive them over and over...

why do we do this? maybe to have fuel for our pens? we write pain so well...

interesting perspective in this...and that is how it spoke to me...i like the ending...i like the theory behind this..sort of straightforward but sometimes it works with certain content.

So true. You give someone your heart to hold, they can either keep it, toss it, or break in half.

Such a vulnerable position to be in, but we allow ourselves to fall for this trap because love is an emotion like no other.

In the end, it's worth the risk, just to hope and hold for love's sake.
