This is my effort to acknowledge the Third Harvest, Samhain, which we celebrate on October 31. We give thanks for the harvest, embrace the quiet darkness as a time for rest, meditation and growth. In turn, the darkness will give birth to light and life.

I thank my sweet Tara for challenging me to keep working on this one until it was done.

    Part the veil
    Bake the bread
    'neath mourning moon
    Honor the dead

    Cast the circle
    Call the names
    Gather crystals
    Light the flame

    Friends of nature
    Take your seat
    In moonlit darkness
    Drink and feast

    Call the spirits
    Bless the sky
    Ancestors gather
    As we scry

    The Goddess
    Gathers seeds
    She'll sow
    Once Maiden,

    Behold the Crone's
    Her wisdom reigns
    Her children blessed

    She turns the wheel
    In restful calm
    Prepares for winter:
    Samhain's Song

    Darkness falls
    On Winter's breath
    And seeds rebirth
    In Summer's death
