I just finished writing an English Fairy Tale Essay and thought "Hey, I wrote over 2000 words on the frog prince, why not write some more in a poem???!!!"

So here's a different version of the Frog Prince.

Make the font bigger!! Double Spacing Back to recent posts.

dotsWaiting by the Spring (My Frog Prince)dots

    Sneaking gazes out the window
    Knowing you’re waiting for me
    By the spring

The sun cannot set any faster
    Every minute feels like torture

    Sliding away from reality
    Running towards the forest

    The darkness consumes me
    Menacing creatures watching
Yet all I see is you

I no longer care for the ball
It has lost meaning to me
    Innocence is gone

    Your presence captures my soul
I let the hours pass me by

I long for you to follow me home
But you just watch me leave
    My sweet frog prince

    Sneaking gazes out the window
Wondering if you’re waiting for me
    By the spring

I like the whimsy here of the fairy tale. I like the longing, too. I think the poem would pack more punch, though, if you switch the last two stanzas around and left off the last line. Like this:

    Sneaking gazes out the window
Wondering if you’re waiting for me
    By the spring

I long for you to follow me home
But you just watch me leave

    What do you think?
