    dotsThe Siren's Calldots
    -------------------------------------------

The ship set sail on a moonless night
La mer, in darkness, is still with fright
No beacon near to guide us home
In these water's tides we, aimless, roam
Blankets of fog our vision distorts
Unease are the minds of my restless cohorts
When all of a sudden I hear a voice
And lured to its call, I'm offered no choice
Led by the currents I follow the trail
Of a melodious tune from a stranger's wail
That lingers in my head, alleviating all fears
Permitting these mysterious hymns, my vessel to steer
The waters, now tulmutuous, unrelenting in hate
Thrust us off course, and cause my men to berate:
"Curse the seas, and it's spoils for leading us astray!
Have you no mercy for the souls you wish to cast away?"
With this plea the ocean does indeed calm
The surf, the swell, and the ferocious winds qualm
No sound is present, but the crashing of waves
The storm that was ensuing, now quickly behaves
In that instant, however, disaster has wrought
Our vessel, through rocks, has shipwrecked the lot
Screams of horror are all that I hear
Yet a familiar tune whispers in my ear
There on a stone, veiled in mist
A mythical creature proves to exist
Singing a song of sorrow and woe
Her voice, hypnotic, could soothe all foes
    Boisterous chants reveal our proximity
With a piercing shrill, I'm in her vicinity
Swimming my way into her arms
    Captivated by her magical charms
She carresses my wounds with cold, wet palms
Her salty, moist lips a healing balm
She speaks, poetically, without cause for alarm
Every word a lyric that could incur no harm:
"No more shall thou be versed in suffering or pain.
My call, if heeded, doth lead thee from thy earthly plain.
Drawn to a realm where thou shant shed tears,
Only the sound of thy name from my voice thoust hear."
A final kiss shared, as she pulls me under
My life, a treasure that she has plundered
With my dying breath I struggle and wry
As she sings the last notes of her lullaby
These harmonious words my thoughts do drown
While her heart, my anchor, keeps weighing me down
In the depths of the ocean, with her love, I lie
Surrounded by the sounds of a siren's cry
