    dotsIntoxicating Dancedots

Stained like cherries upon her mouth
    the mesmerising dance had begun.
Charmed by the smile it played,
    she luciously licked her lips.

    Hips swayed joining the rythm
such music created just for two.
    Wooed by light headed feeling
    intoxicated by warm embrace.

    Graceful poise became unbalanced,
    observations from a distance.
    Tragedy surrounded this gliding couple
she unaware to a dance floor of death.

    One by one other couples
had danced the same polished boards
    Watching them take turn,
swirling and turning to deaths call.

    Leaping through the air
    danger of heights unknown.
    Another side pass made,
    footing this time regained carelessly.

    The next tune played softly
    the couple nearer deaths door.
Reaching hands went out, yet no heed paid,
    she was willingly hypnotised.

    Relentlessly dancing on, her partner
    blatently aware of destruction
    leading her from outstretched hands
tears broke out fom the audience.

    Hesitating momentarily, whispers sounded,
you can do it, onlookers then held bated breath,
oblivous again, the dance went on
    helpless sighs sounding all around.

    Silence fell over the crowd
some leaving the auditorium in dismay,
an obvious end in sight, completely deceived,
in her partner alcohol, she placed her trust.
