    dotsGirl on Firedots

From the moment her name was read aloud my life has become a war
This world is my arena, but it wasnít so before
The meadow was my only escape, through the woods Iíd hunt and play
Taking in the air of the forest and the songs of mockingjays

Now, as I walk along the rubble of a place I once called home
An overwhelming sense of emptiness makes me feel, suddenly, alone
With no one to confide in, Iím torn between two loves I have
Both equal parts to my tormented heart. My soul, with each, does split in half

Iíve seen the face of Death, wreaking havoc in the land
Reaping children from their parents as they die by their own hand
The faces of enemies and allies flash before me with confused stares
Begging to save and spare them, as their screams haunt my nightmares

With a country in upheaval, itís districts in revolt
A Capitol against a revolution; No ceasefire to call a halt
I, through a simple pin, have become the face of freedom
Through irrational means of survival and uncountable forms of reason

This face, that holds many scars, does take the role to heart
Hoping for change, a brighter future where children, in warfare, shall play no part
This face, which burns with fury, shall destroy corruptive souls
Bringing unity throughout the nation, planting seeds of primrose in place of woe

This face, that holds many identities, shall only know the one
Who cares, unselfishly, for others since the day her life has begun
This face, whose refusal to be a pawn, led to a democratic reign
Unflinching in a fight, for this youth knows no pain

A volunteer to a crisis; A tribute to a game
A victor to a district; A symbol brought by fame
A promise to her loved ones, who safe and sound remain
A phoenix reborn from ashes, as the girl consumed by flames
