Sometimes I think there are two of us; there’s Haley and then there’s me. Haley is always worried, always frightened and disappears into some other room. I face whatever hell lives here when she’s gone. She won’t come back until this room is empty. Coward. I clean up everything; I make devils go away as if I chased spiders from corners. I won’t leave spots anywhere, not even tears. I’m magic. She’s not. I wish they understood.

    Sh…someone’s coming.

Almost everyone has imaginary acquaintances if they do not then they have someone in there lives that they wish was imaginary. Really, you can protest all you want
no! all my friends are real.
Really and how would you know?
How can you tell who is real and
who is part of the simulation created by your brain?
Anyway at least I know that you are real
because the Lilllie green man that is always
following me around assures me he sees you
    too.

this makes me think of the movie "A beautiful Mind" and how the protagonist managed to(with "treatment") train himself to not indulge, and to slowly drown out the more depressive and violently aggressive aspects of paranoia. that struggle between the different "selves" is something very real for schizophrenics, and it's amazing how John Nash was able to use his uniquity to achieve not only his own equilibrium, but to also make a formula that helped society do something similar in a remarkably similar fashion. that's the parallel this leads me to. i would agree the people who are able to draw these lines, are indeed a form of magic.

this is exactly how i feel today...perfect timing...the two of me...the confident, content with myself me, and the insecure, unloved, can't do a thing right me...and the battle rages...

every time one of them takes over, it is as you said..."shhhhh, someone's coming"

this also made me think of "Magic" with anthony hopkins....his battle within himself, and how he could only communicate what he really thought through his ventriloquist dummy---and finally the connection was so strong, one couldn't tell the difference...i guess we can just hope to keep our playmate at arm's length...and fight for the good side to come out on top.
