    It's a bittersweet thing
The stars beyond the blue sky
As though god or the universe is taunting us
All these worlds laid out before us
Painted on the canvas of our sky
We could fall toward them, into infinity
    These beautiful things

Yeah, I know what you mean. There are thousands upon thousands of solar systems in our galaxy alone that we could explore to find another suitable place for us. Yet, here we are, fighting each-other instead of working towards that goal. And what lies beyond that is even more amazing. Here is a picture taken by Hubble of a small patch of the sky inside the Ursa Major constellation. It's really zoomed in so if you look up at that constellation with the naked eye this portion of it would be much smaller than a pinhead. And there are thousands of galaxies there! Almost all objects in this picture are galaxies as it is so zoomed in that it captured very few stars in our own galaxy: http://walkaboutblog.files.wordpress.com/2010/04/hubble_ultra_deep_field1.jpg

it's funny how beautiful things can be so bittersweet...a beautiful woman could have a cold heart, a rose is beautiful but the thorns can cut and slice,

the galaxy, whatever is beyond the stars is beautiful and we could fall toward it, into infinity...

but then the bittersweet is that we would be dead...

there is always a universe beyond a universe.

and sometimes yes, we feel taunted by what we can't quite reach...or taunted by beauty when there is danger behind it.
