It was more than a candle..
    More like a goddamn inferno
You didn't even know that's just the way I like it..
And as I looked at you
Looking eagerly back up at me
I knew I'd remember you fondly for forever.

Looking eagerly back up at me

I am not sure I want to imagine what this is about. Unless you are really tall or maybe he is a midget?
And as a guy I know I would never want to be
    remembered for fondly.

and even as we made love, i knew this was goodbye---

never was one for the one night stand--but i do understand there is some unspoken bond, and unwritten rule...

"we will savor this moment for the rest of our lives, but it will only be this moment, no other"

was in a long distance relationship once...loved her very much...but after a wonderful last morning together, i drove her to the airport...and we never saw each other again...wasn't a one night stand but still had a feeling similar...now that i look back...although at the time we didn't realize it..
but there are only the good memories...maybe better not to have had the time for it to be tainted.

there is something to be said for that.

i like the feeling of both your new pieces...there is a real, honest, in your face, feeling.
