I had a hard time writing this, it's a personal message and I hope it gets to the right eyes.

    -------------------------------------------

Remember when we used to write
and delve into each others thoughts?
I'd read your words upon the screen
    and worry, laugh or smile

Sometimes it seemed but hours between
each monologue for us to see
and others seemed like years apart
    between each long reply.

Though years we talked we never knew
the truth about each others names
We stayed together thick and close
    Anonymous but friends.

My friend, I was as close to you
    as anyone I ever met
I still sit here and watch the screen
    remembering times we spent

But now my dear, I've made a mess
It's been too long, so many years passed
I cannot start to write to you
    too much has gone untouched

So I write this now, my ode to you
the greatest friend I never knew
I wish you well, a wonderful life
    "Your lost and fallen friend"

I want to add an update here to anybody who has any interest at all.

My words got through to my friend, we are now closer than ever and the whole year long vacation has been forgotten.

I urge each and every one of you who read these words and thought of your own losses to reach out and try to take them back.

You may be surprised how things will work out.

    Message ends!
    Peace out guys.

I like the sentiment of the poem and how easily it flows. I like the universal theme of a friendship left to wither because (perhaps) we didn't dedicate the time to nurture it. Whether its an online friend or not people that we consider friends make an impact in our lives and it is sad when the friendship fades away. I agree with the previous posts that your poem does force the reader to stop and ponder about previous friendships that have come and gone.

    Thanks for a wonderful read.

That just spoke to me & I suspect to countless others and all the online friends that we have never met in person and now live their lives separate from us but had once touched us and shared our innermost selves with. Beautiful and poignant in one breath. Excellent expression. Faved!

hmm i hope this reaches that friend. i've had many friends like that. online people who made an impact. i do truely hope who you intend to read this reads it. it's a very touching sentiment. this does make me think of a lot of people i've known through here and how that always seems to pan out. i hope that you find closure through this. sometimes a reconnection isn't always best. but who knows. it's a toss up.
