I stared for hours at the creases in my hands
wondering what stress was recorded here
    what work
    what play
    what frustration

    In anger, anxiety, despair,
    I clench my fist

When I cant speak because the words would give life to most sinister entities
I hold onto my own fingers in a ball

    Heart beating loudly
    following
    large amounts of blood flow
    the quickening of my breath
and the pale white palm of mine
    molding these appendages
    sketching little mountainsides

I am sure you meant this in a way that I did not take it, but here goes anyway.

I immediately thought of men who worked their entire lives and their callouses, their short nails, their dirt stained fingers. I thought of men who ended up in shelters, regardless of all of that, receiving a "Free Lunch". Perhaps, I'm cynical. *shrug*

I felt that while writing what I assume to be your own plight, you captured theirs and you captured it well.

    I applaud you for that,
    --Carrie.
