    Description:
My first post in years. Back to basics with this one. The rhyme scheme wasn't intentional at first. Just kinda fell in place. I wanted to get away from simple format but the road to progress can be a long one - especially for someone who took a 3 year break.

    -------------------------------------------

    Within the soul
    a mangled mess
    memories, experiences
    no progress

    A drip with feeling
    a drop with life
    but came of a bottle
    diluted in strife

    One way forward
    two ways back
    three ways to wait
    yet four to attack

    Attack the future
    with hopes of dreams
    but always be weary
    for blackest of schemes

    Whatever the choice
    just be prepared
    live and let live
    and fight the despair

I like your word play. First instance in the first stanza there's a lot of alliteration with the letter "m," and I hear the "ess" sound a lot too. I feel these techniques make for a great flow in a poem. Alliteration can be over used, but when it's on I love it :)

That's a very nice message. I like the "steps" thing. I'm in a bit of a hiatus myself. I suspect that facebook is sucking the soul out of me, or at least too much of my time.
