Feet hitting pavement,
Cars slowing to a light.
Nothing but miles ahead,
And a soft melody in my ears.
Street lights are my guide,
And the songs about cheap bouquets.
Warm fall air,
And the leaves leave the trees.
No one is seen, nor heard,
Lies to get away.
No longer in the solitude of my "home",
But walking, yes, walking.
Eventually I'll reach where I want to go.
A place not too far from home,
But when I'm there, I'm so far gone.
A vacation from stress.
Without the help from any type of drug.
Only cars block my path ahead.
My feet matching the melody in my ears.
I can breathe again.
My head will calm,
My thoughts will leave,
I'll close my eyes and fly.
You're not invading my thoughts or dreams anymore.
I can see a light,
And it's not the one you think.
But the one I need,
To chase away the darkness.
To help me figure out who I am.
And now I've reached my destination;
A park, swings, no one around.
To sit and fly wishing to never go back.
