the starting image of him waiting waiting waiting reminds me of my mothers dog from when i was younger.
the dog would sit in the windows and wait until my mother got home. she would bark at people walking by. she would growl at cats walking through the yard. she would dance for the children riding their bikes home. but she would wait and wait and wait for mums old orange marina to stop outside the house and then she would work herself up into a frenzy in the time it took for mum to get from the car to the front door.
it wouldnt matter how loudly i told her to shut up she would jump and bark and chase her tail until the door had been opened and she had heard mums voice.
dogs are very loyal.
a very good characteristic for our lovers to have.
my husband is from ethiopia. we are currently living in my homeland which he really likes. there are more opportunities for him here than there were in ethiopia yet for the first year he was here he only had casual employment which meant he spent most of his days sitting round our home waiting for me to finish work. and for the first 7 months of him being here i was working in a job that seemed to demand my everything. i would work 15hour days knowing the whole time that my husband was at home by himself because he didnt know anyone and didnt know he would be welcome to turn up at my fathers or brothers houses without announcement. without me.
i felt so bad leaving him home by himself.
but he was so good about it. and always waiting for me to come home so we could curl up on the couch and watch a movie or eat dinner or go for a walk.
anyways... that was a whole lot of ramble from me to say that i understand where you are coming from in this piece.
