Description:

Okay, this is pretty much true. I got up today, went for a run, worked out, got a lot accomplished, and felt like a million bucks. I sat down to write this and it started wearing off, so this is also sort of a cleaned up stream of consciousness... or maybe dolled up is a better term. Let me know what you think.

One of Those Days

Today I can conquer the world!
Not that I will, but it's nice to know.
It's just one of those days:

When mind and body lightly tingle,
Telling you there is no single
Task that you could not complete,
No enemy you could not beat.
Your dreams expand accross your vision,
Unhampered by the fools' derision.
The optimism in your eyes
Turns their concern to wicked lies!
Should they be right, then hell be damned,
Today is when you make your stand!

Then I take a step back.
My heartbeat slows, adrenaline recedes.
It's not one of those days after all.

The goosebumps on your arm lay flat,
Where you felt lean you now feel fat.
No longer strong, your muscles wane,
Nor longer brilliant is your brain.
Your realistic side is back
Routing out your dreams' attack.
Your friends' kind words, not one a fool,
Make sense once you've regained your cool.
The romantic who once lived gives up.
Before you lies half-empty cup.

It was nice while it lasted.
My thoughts return to their normal balance.
Maybe I'll have one of those days tomorrow.

i could just sense the deflation in this poem.. it's like it starts out all big and positive... and it just dwindles away.

i loved the lines:
"Today I can conquer the world!
Not that I will, but it's nice to know." defintely made me smile...

and i didnt even notice that it rhymes until the second read which is amazing.. i'm usually extremely conscious of rhyming simply cause i just dont like it. in this case it was so natural it didnt even register.

(btw one typo.. "Before you lies A half-empty cup.")

anyway.. now we just have to figure out a way to make that feeling stick. and then you can really conquer the world

for me, mood swings are an everyday and/or week thing. ive had mood swings of this kind alot. feeling how nothing can bring you down, but later, the littlest thing, the last straw takes you back. nice way to create a stand still and make people think. great.
