she stood to her waist in blood, the frothy gore lapped the beach leaving pink foam. her eyes held nothing and her mouth gaped open like a scaffolds trap door.
birds black as nightmare filled with the scent of death circled overhead cawing their want to feed.
bodies plump with rot crowded the blood sea,
some were whole, most were not. heads littered the shore like stones and bobbed around her like apples.
    she began to wade.
she had not one lock of hair upon her skull, bald as a new born and just as nude. she moved slowly and the end moved with her.
her feet sunk into the soft bottom and it moved between her toes.
the blood sea was at her knees,
    she stopped.
a child stood before her on the beach, pale and terrified.
    he turned and ran.
    she uttered a word.
the child vilolently collapsed to the ground as he was at full sprint, he slid to a stop on his belly.
    he was dead.
she emerged from the sea, mouth still agape, and stood still.
the buzzing began, faint then loud.
the swarm came from her, thick and alive. her throat bulged and her eyes watered as the flies came from her in endless torrent, covering the land.
the woman had come and with her oblivion.
