Used to get high for a living
    throw down more lines,
    just to continue participating
had everyone at a loss for anticipating
felt alive, and it's a hell of a sensation
not a reference to snow, I was sun baking
prudent and pruned like a plum
    pedestal raised and patient
raisins from the grapes of wrath
    until i'm shriveled wrinkles
tasting of age and dry wit
like a fine wine, I was lit
    kerosene and fire water
    burnt throats and roasted minds
a trinity, three degrees of immolation
    abrasive and happily partaking
    in vices and back-braking
slowed down but these words are accelerating

taking souls and bankrupt on selling them
out for a new fix in a petty sin
spun whichever way makes less sense
    and sputtering, muttering curses
quiet but this mean mugged again
stripped and stood up for the shot
down the hatch, bar the door locked
cold cells and a flooded toilet
dim lights and the tormented company
of myself left alone with loud thoughts
caught for a crime and dead dropped
at the foot of a judge, a plea copped
propped on a podium for hard knocks
then corralled away in steel cuffs
back to the living hell and stiff cot
back to the shit smell and dead rot
stuck inside my mind and it's padlocked

    Did time correcting my consciousness
was finally free and i'll admit
turning a new leaf like tea in this tumbler
no more obsessing over adolescent hunger
not stacking furniture in a room ten feet squared
99 problems and I'm done treasure hoarding
    stuck inside counting the plunder
bought a ton of stuff, then I up and left it
    catch the meters like metric
trying to fit it all into the game: Tetris

Learned easy living the hard way
the more you build, the more bills you pay
the more weight you burden yourself under
the more sins you cast off
the more heaven tears you asunder
saving your soul from the other you
still trying to run away with the truth
same hue shines, guiding to brightness
fright less, fear not through the shadow of death
heed low calls like birds with a broken wing,
lighting a path through this dark night
spent stumbling caught up on another blunder
    but stay righteous
or your another tower toppling into another
like domino's push brother onto brother
    momentum carries bad blood over
lovers to leave love and sons sell out their mothers

    tougher by this line,
still rap with the rough riders
still tipped upside down and pillow smothered
by smog steamed black by the dragon puff
    coughing up a lung, sober
    still haven't had enough
got you covered on this track
hacks take some time to recover

For being shallow, I've sure learned a lot
anything worth having isn't always hard fought
better to find something worth keeping
    than counting your have nots
best lessons truly can't be taught
best laid plans lay too long in a poor plot
don't plow fields still dry with dust
fraught with drought and the hot season
they pave the way for more waiting
for the best rain to drop
    for a reason worthy enough
to get lost in the moment
    enjoy the meaning
    don't watch the clock
    this second's fleeting

Shout out to the CMA for the inspiration
miner's pick diamonds from the underground
true motivational speakers, like canary song
sings this monotone life is monoxide suffocating
    cut your stones to sparkle,
    it's appreciated
appraise for yourself and forge armor
against the hard world's foul temptation
rather stay sedated than commit to devil chasing

stay humble and preach wisdom from this tablet
run to the teaches of God's graces
    generous in enlightenment
    succumb or be forsaken

      Uhm. Holy smokes.

    This is a rap, huh?

I read it out loud. Sounded like a rap.

As a poem, its hard to read out loud. Not a lot of stops.

I really always enjoy your way with words. Such pretty, enchanting words.
