    -------------------------------------------

the old man looks from his beyond his wheel chair
at the boy gazing at the blue fish in the tank
    breath upon on the glass

    The boy’s head is empty
    He knows nothing yet.
    The man thinks
    this is wonderful.

And I asked him if he was scared to die
He told me “of course not
When you die you become a part of the dirt”
And that thought rotated through my brain
but I couldn’t remember it when I woke up
    and then
I saw him die and I remembered

that while I may not hear him laugh
I’ll hear his soul whisper to me
    that I shouldn’t be afraid
    that I should keep dreaming
    because one day
    one day
I’ll be part of the dirt

I really love this poem. It sounds like the boy's grandpa is the one who told him these things. I myself lost my Nanny a few years ago and this poem gives a great message of courage to keep on going. Keep up the good work
