Description:
Same Mistakes
-------------------------------------------
I laid my head against your chest
And I listened to the
Pitter patter of your footsteps
Tethered to your lips
I found shaded names
And wistful faces
I pretended that you left the door unlocked
So I could inch between your pros
And snuggle in the crevices between your toes
I wanted to make you weep
Because I only remember feelings
In watercolor paintings
I sifted through your eyes
To find the browned bricks of your first house
And the painted steps to your broken stories
I asked you what your fears were
So I could tuck them in between the bars
To this meditated prison
I had forgotten how to smile
Until I looked inside your hands
And swallowed her scent
Your un-comfort-ability soothed me to sleep
Remembering what sleep could mean
I was lulled into forgetfulness
Through your lullabied excuses.
