    maybe it was the lilt against my ear, or the fact that i was a little drunk, a little stoned and dancing to the blues in a different state. maybe it was how i kissed garrett o'reilly in san francisco; how i kissed garrett o'reilly in san francisco without one single thought of you in my head.

      Reads like a piece out of a novel but yet it stands on its own without needing context - indeed perhaps better the way you let the reader fill in the gaps, to connect him or herself to it.

    I love how you don't even finish the thought. It gives a tension that lingers. The tone tells me it's done but the words still say maybe. Still unsure, but hitting on something in the middle of mulling it over and letting it stand still so we can get a good look at it.

      Is it a good memory? Or embarrassing? Most of my memories are embarrassing: that's why I ask!

    I guess if one is drunk, stoned, dancing to the blues and in another state, then one just needs to kiss somebody as well. That is human nature, we can't break up a set. But it also sounds like an apology to somebody else.even if you were able to keep it to yourself!

      I like the simpleness of this v the repetition.
    a little drunk, a little stoned in another state

    is fully magical and lends itself to that phrase of
    what happens in vegas stays in vegas like you cannot
    have a pretty girl but you can for tonight.

    I dont mean that in a lewd way, not from the male perspective,
    more like the woman was free of herself free from all complication allowing her true beauty.

    That and the uncomplication
    of just being with someone

    they are two
    marvelous things to find in an expression.

    I would like that kind of freedom in my heart and in my mind.

      yes yes that is letting go. i guess the art is just letting it happen. trying to let go can feel a whole lot like holding on. but that moment of closure is sweet. nice that you've found it.
