I found myself waiting as he wove his hands around my body
Like it was an extension of himself
Reaching for parts I rarely visit
I turned away and counted down the minutes until sunrise
Wondering how much dignity this evening would cost

I thumbed through the days it would take to recover
Reaching in to the dark parts of my mind
I wondered if he had mistaken my kindness for empathy
    Or my silence for acquiescence

    As he grabbed by wrist
    Like a piece of candy
And dragged it to the pieces of himself that he itched to share
I snapped it back like a laffy taffy
And laughed at how easy it was
    For him to own me

I lost myself in the distance to morning
    Wavering between insanity and numbness
I ate his excuses with morbid tiptoes
    Sustenance for a forgiving heart
    But the moment he left
His excuses mounted in to a chokehold of flashbacks

    Moments etched so deep
That they hurt in my sleep
I felt his hands upon my back
And his menacing grin staring in to my chest
I am still running for the sunrise.

Hopefully I will catch up soon.
