Night after night, gasping for air,
Your body trembling from an unknown fear.
Running a hand through your hair,
Not knowing the reflection in the mirror.
The days progress and you ache,
Your body screaming at you to stop.
That "dream" you can't shake,
Finding security in a nearby coffee shop.
But as you drift to sleep,
You're pulled into the dark.
So much for counting sheep,
A nightmare, you now embark.
That twisted memory replaying each night,
You thought it was gone.
In this dream, you can't fight,
All you have to do is hold on.
There are nights you're clueless,
Can't figure out the pain.
that calm feeling that you miss,
These dreams you can't explain.
And then people begin to wonder,
Why you can't stay awake.
Until eventually you stay under,
Swimming in the dark like it's a lake.
Next thing you know, you're fine,
As if the 100 sleepless nights were all a hoax.
The rest at night is so divine,
Sleep is what silence provokes.
