In we have a natural inclination to pick the most alacritous dexterities we encounter to fawn over. Of it's evolution's incarnate. We want the best we can for mate as animals because of the probable outcomes. Conversely of this form of beauty can be only skin deep and leave our souls ravished and unattended. Perhaps this is not the beauty you spoke of but even at that one must be worthy of such gifts. Regret can be a bitter pill. I think you should accept the lesson and endeavor in the future to speak your mind (unpretentiously) and hope for the best.
