    dotsMale sublimationdots

    I can’t write anymore tonight:
I’ve tapped out my male muses
    whose images I interchange
    so shamelessly, so freely,
    but who is to claim
    they serve a nobler purpose
    than my artistic exploits?
-- A sensual mouth that dares
    to venture close enough
    to mine, too far
    from a conventional good-bye --
    in all,
they use me in as much
as I use them, a comely

I enjoyed this and really have no technical critique since you have a nice tight form and lines are well-written. I was somewhat amused by this piece. Most think of the muse as female, but in truth it is our relationships that galvanize and drive our writing, and so I must say mine is male also. I never used the sake of my craft as a reason/excuse, but why not. Every new encounter gives us something to write about.

I personally can't imagine using a person (not trying to say you're a horrible person or anything so please don't take that the wrong way...), but I do like the concept of your piece. Using someone in a symbiotic relationship for the sake of your art. I guess I can see myself doing that to further my novel for inspiration but I like how plainly your poem puts things. Makes it seem simpler than what it really is. I enjoyed reading it :)
