A dark crimson sky bleeds tonight
    The street's an empty battlefield
    Fresh blood splattered sidewalks
It's a fight with no sword or shield.
    Until death the battle continues
And an urge to succumb too soon
To lie down in a gruesome bloodbath
    And await great torturous doom.
    While bones were never broken
Skin was burned, bruised and split
A shameful walk into the night
Was better than to dwell and sit.
    Wandering endlessly far away
    Entering other dangerous grounds
Not knowing that evil gets darker
    Until another battle was found.
More blood was shed come daylight
    All possible healing time ruined
    The bloody battle still continues
With salt rubbed in every wound.

"Its a fight with no swords or shield"

So is this a mental fight, where emotions and thoughts clash and the heart is haunted by the past or present situation or even both?

    "Wandering endlessly far away
    Entering dangerous ground"

Did the soul lose hope and decided since all is lost there is nothing to lose?

Hmm this is very interesting write, it has depth and makes the reader wonder. This piece was very thought provoking.
