    -Learning To Let Go-

    It was in her blood
    It colored her honey skin
It was tied like ribbons in her charcoal hair
She wore it on her ring finger

    For it was the madness
    Which she was married too

The tea leaves at the bottom
Of the jade cup told her so
    And she believed

    Teal eyes flickering
    Like little candles
    Pupils dilated

    The medicine in her veins
    Melted like pillow whispers
    Inside her nerves
    Kissing and unthreading
    The pearl like stitches
At the end of each of her sorrows

    She was not like others
    Dwelling in her butterfly cocoon
    Fascinated by pain

    Taking Bone-Woman’s razor
Slicing the lines on her porcelain wrist
Watching her blood drip onto a notebook
Turning into diamonds as soon as the droplets

    Touched the ivory page

The Moon had warned her to stop this nonsense
    But Lady wouldn’t listen
    Her obsession was fatal

    Each night
When Moon breathed her light upon the world
The scars on Lady’s wrist grew deeper

    While specks of diamonds
Littered each page of the little notebook

    In the morning
    The Sun begged Lady
    To come out and play
And be warmed and renewed by his beams

    Lady scowled

    “I hate those people things”
    But Sun told her
    He will protect her

But Lady was a cold and sorrowful soul
She had grown to love the darkness
    And to embrace her pain

Though one thing she loved the most
    Was her blood

    Until one day the notebook
    Could no longer hold anymore
And fell apart on the cobwebbed floor

    Bone-Woman had come back
    To collect her possessions
She expected to see a Chrysalis
Which was supposed to be open

But instead a cocoon as hard as concrete
    Stood before her

    Bone-Woman tilted her head
    Not once did she frown
Not once did the features on
    Her face twitch

    She lightly tapped the abomination
    A big hole appeared
She floated in; staring at the scene
    There lay Lady
    In a pool of diamonds

    Her crystal wings
    Now dull and broken
Were scattered on the small desk

    Because there were no wings
To give balance to Lady’s form
    She had grown extra legs
And a pair of wicked fangs

    No longer a beautiful butterfly
    Instead a hideous, monstrous spider

    Thick cobwebs, stiff as steel
Clung to the walls, ceiling, and floors of the cocoon

    Bone-Woman floated closer
Taking a good look at the creature
She spotted the razor in between
    Lady’s claws

    She sadly sighed
    Then snapped her fingers

    Immediately everything was
    Sparkling and new
    The cocoon became a Chrysalis
    The cobwebs were gone
    Everything was so perfect

    Except for Lady and wings
She stood staring daggers at Bone-Woman

“What have you DONE!” she growled

    Bone-Woman calmly placed her razor
    Next to the wings
    Then looked deep within Lady
    With her blank eyes

    “Your little masquerade is over”
Her voice the sound of an ocean
    “Where are diamonds?!” sneered Lady
    Clicking her claws

    Bone-Woman shook her head
“Is that all you care about Lady, Diamonds?”
“Which used to be the blood in your veins.”
“You let your love for diamonds destroy you.”

    Lady snorted
“There is nothing wrong with me
    I’m perfectly fine Bone.”
    Again Bone sighed
    “You are blinded
    By your darkness”

    Lady cackled and twirled her
    Very scary looking figure around

“Ha! You don’t know me Bone
    You never will.
    Now Where Are They?!”

Cautiously, Bone took out the most beautiful notebook
    From under her Burqa
It was hinged with lovely pearls and seashells
And bounded with rich cobweb ink

“You, you fixed it . . .?” breathed Lady
Her animosity starting to melt just a little
