I sit in my cave counting gold. I do it as slowly as a I can. First, I grab a small handful in my left claw and then I push each coin out as I count it. The ringing noise helps me keep track of each piece. "One" Ping! "Two" Ping! "Three" Ping!
This helps me pass the time in my cave and it makes me happy. Happy that I have so much gold, and much more determined to keep it. Can't have those ugly humans stealing what's rightfully mine. While I'm counting my gold. I'm also laying on my stomach to keep my belly cool. When you've got hot flames inside yourself, you need to keep it cool. Makes you less likely to let it out, and I want to reserve mine for intruders. Sometimes just getting a look at my face is all it takes, though. My face looks like a cross between an eagle's and an alligator's, attached to a snake's neck with a fat lizard's body. I'm completely covered in scales, red above and yellow below. My red claws curve like a hawk's and are sharper than a hundred spears. My crocodile-like eyes have grey pupils. The thing that scares most humans, though, is my teeth: Long, large, curved and black. Yes, black. It's not like I can find a decent toothbrush. In fact, it those teeth that gave me my name, 'Black Tooth'; the dragon that killed a thousand knights and guards a king's ransom.
I've just gotten to coin 999 when I hear a noise! I drop my handful and raise my head. The noise repeats itself. I hiss slowly. I hear the noise a third time and open my mouth. Deep breath, getting ready to unleash my fire and then...
"Kevin! What are you doing in the dog house? Come out!" I drag myself out sheepishly. "Mister, you better march yourself inside right now!""O-okay Mom." She sighs, frustrated. "I just got you those clothes yesterday and you go and..." I'm inside before she finishes. Looks like another bath night. It's not easy being an eight year old dragon.
