Tragedy is what it is. As our society crumbles from all directions, that is when my muse seems to visit me. Leave anything you wish, comments or critiques. It's always welcomed.

    We’re All Ghosts Inside

It was in their eyes---where I first discovered---hatred.
Wrapped around misconceptions of who we’re supposed to be.
Tarnished, malcontent, consumed by sadness; weak.
It happened once again---as I passed you---her and him.
I sought the whispers---of that muse---to alleviate that pain again.
Yet no one sought out to see it end.
    Not you---nor I---or them.

It was in their eyes---where I first discovered---fear.
Strangled manacles of history spinning what is truth or myth.
Poetic, loving, consumed by passion; lies.
It harkens---to a simpler time---where memories wore disguise.
I thought of that forgotten muse---as I heard their cries.
    Lost---in the fireflies.

It was in their eyes---where I saw humanity finally die.
Drowning at sea---swimming to escape---dreams and fairer tides.
Desperate, malnourished, consumed by hope; free.
It calls---from the grave---that will bind all forever more.
    I dreamed---of a better muse---to see that future rise.
    We’re all ghosts inside.
    Just you---and I.

That line seemed to describe the general theme if this piece. A people that are consumed by fear, hatred, and death in a spiritual sense, then a literal sense as the inside turmoil rears its head in the actions of their host. Like a disease it spreads across the world.

It was in their eyes---where I saw humanity finally die.

powerful choice of words for a simple poetic description.

not that I would rate this a five star, still I wouldn't over-rule it as not being far off.

the point is clear and I hope you aare as original as your lines.
