    It was
uninhabitable, the world in which I grew
and I only intended to extend a toe
    to feel the slight pleasure
    to know I could,
the possibility of what might await me

    And it was
    everything to me
    that slight expectation
    that was cool at first;
    became warm
as when confronted by the cold eventide
    instantly inviting
    knowing I would be saturated
and held in the embrace of relief

    It wasn't
    what I expected
    but what I needed
    Shedding the oppressive incandescence
    swaddled in your temperate embrace
    Awash in you

Wah...I haven't read such a uniquely structured poem based off of longing in a while. Something so appeasing, almost relaxing to read. I can't empathize, as I've never felt such tranquility when involved romantically, but...I like to imagine how it must feel.
