    dotsI am the watchmandots
    -------------------------------------------

    I am the watchman
    standing steadfast
on the wall of my heart.

    I catch an angry step
    and stop it dead.
    I hook that resentful glare
and ask for and apply the balm
    of understanding
    til the thick skin softens
    and love seeps in.

    I am willing
to give up every unloving thought

Every thought that is not love
I cast into your transforming fire.

    I am the watchman
    standing steadfast
on the wall of my heart.

What a warm little poem. I enjoyed reading it. It's nice to see some familiar names still posting here. I thought this place was dead. Haven't logged in to this site in ages.

We are all the watchmen, are we not? The personification is well done and lends this poem action which makes your reader want to act along with you. This is not an easy job for any of us, but a necessary one to all.
    Happy New year!
