I'm not writing as much as I was awhile ago. I'm just wishing that it'd get easy again.

If only there could be a pipeline
    to pump perfect thoughts,
    perfectly formed poems
    from fertile, creative souls
into this bored, tired, fallow mind
    when the old method
    proves too difficult.

I don't like the 'when' in the secound to last line so much, would replace it with an 'as'. but that's just me. see, I always nag on such little things cause there are no big things to complain about. you might feel blocked but still you write really good poems.

sounds like you are having a difficult time with writing, amy. your mind is definitely fertile and creative, but you feel like the "old ways" don't quite cut it anymore. perhaps your trip has done a little dance with your muse and she is seeking different avenues. you seem tired and worn out and need some freshness. i think it'll only be a matter of time for you because you are a creative soul. i say just write whatever comes to you. your last one that i read was so bizarre and different... just go there if you feel the need! you've still got it!

you just have to know how to prepare your mind, and you are back on track. i usually turn on some music, close my mind out from reality, and just relax. if I don't fall asleep, heh, I got a hand full of writes. I have been at it since 1969 and still going.writers block whats that???it should be called writers blend.

well you still write really well even when you feel blocked so you're a lot more blessed than most of us. i've sometimes gone six months without writing a thing.. and then other times i've written for a month straight on a daily basis.

you just need to let it come to you. i think that's always the best way (if not the hardest) to deal with it.
then there are always tons of writing exercises if you feel adamant.
a little break never hurt anyone.. then you really appreciate it when you write something.. gives you a chance to step back and look at your writing.. maybe find a new voice.

but then again... i know how frustrating it can be to stare at that blank page.. and have nothing to write on it.

anyway.. i'm rambling here... but yeah.. i think if you put less pressure on yourself.. it will just come flooding back.

Lawrence Ferlinghetti wrote that once he went into a poetry seizure and wrote almost nonstop for an entire year. But that only goes to emphasize how long he must have gone dry before that. Don't worry, your work shows that when you do get the call, you have the tools to get the job done! I hesitate to suggest I could help you, but (if you are ever that desperate) I may have some ideas to get you started on a new write. PM me.

If writing were easy then everyone would do it and nobody would care. You can't have infinite inspiration. That would be even worse and more boring! What is good without evil? What is health without sickness? La la la, how trite am I, la la la. I like the write though. Once again you've expressed something very real in a simple and understandable short piece, with the elegance of a master.

I've gone through times when poetry just leaves me...years...and then it will just return. I mourn it while it is away, but I don't worry that it is gone for good. It never is...

For some reason an ugly picture came into my mind. I saw this weird medical contraption that was connected to two people. It was sucking the thoughts from one person's mind and injecting them into another. The thoughts were a weird glowing pinkish slime. Ever see the movie "Starship Troopers." This huge brain bug sucks people's brains out of their bodies in an attempt to get to know our species...

Whew...sorry. It is not a bad poem or anything. It just brought this into my mind for some reason. maybe I should not be reading poetry right now.
