    dotsFaith & Firesides - a joint poemdots

I watched you for a moment
    sitting stiff in staggered poise
    against an illuminated teepee
    seer peering into quiet flames
    looking for something
    scratching thoughts suppressed
    and you're lost
in the best of worse ways.

I have never seen you so distant
    you beautifully evidenced integrity
by baring self and weighing burden
as willing proof in your conviction
you will forever own that moment
    where you shaped for me
Three years lost and when I found you
    I tasted wasted moments searching
for a welcome smile that wasn't there,

    Always fixing self alone
    amending needs
and you looked right through me
    while my heart curled inward
    caught between a presence appreciated
    and that sleepy hollow gaze.

    you look tired
of lying to yourself on the surface
it's killing you and your purpose
    and you deserve real happiness
    mistakes meant less today
Let's trust this world to accept
us for our hearts apart while
    finding time together.

    We are so much better
than this failure to start again
    when we practiced caring
still the strongest bond i've known
and i'm still here, that you would let me
    carry us out before
    the darkness can settle in.

    But all goes unsaid.
    Instead, we trade small talk
    (practiced empty words leading nowhere)
    so, I sought sentiment.
Four minutes in you had to go.
    We hugged brief and broke
    into goodbyes.

your scent lingered after, it hinted
    that love still resides within
though you'd like to break and bury it
some piece is hanging around your heart
meaning you haven't kicked this habit.
    but those memories are cold
leaving room for no presumption beyond confidence.

I saw in your stare you were troubled
with those green-grey orbs doubled up
stained sage and sharkskin, abalone luster
    big windows for such reservation
You think you've lost this love
because you pushed with quiet and distance
until that light in your eyes
went out with our spark once
    severed from the source
but I held onto our best, while
    fixing what was wearing thin
    and I'll show you

    Feel me out,
    I've some sanity, simply
honest in loving you both grand and plainly
    poetic or just plain speak
I found confirmation at the festival
that sharing in elation during moments
free and separate but bonded by consciousness
sharing experiences and the stakes of old gods
we'd manifest excitement spurring passion on
maybe even finding new pride in each other

    and I promise

If we get back to the quiet,
or craft sanctuary on the spot,
find some solace in my sureness
knowing I can hold you like I used to.
When the world's spin would slow to stop
on an instant existing as touch,
    you clench, uncertain
unable to melt into just existing with me
but I'd build all warmth into connecting whole
and win your peace with persistence
    seek a rich closeness
where emotions are corporeal, even metaphoric
as body heat building between us
produces hearthfire adjoining two wicker rocking chairs
symbolize souls swaying infinite in subsistence
confiding spirit in each other's character
and aging graceful with brandished youth
    together cross destinies and though
    nothing is promised,
    I know
we can count on each other

If we were to be again
(or newly for the first time
as we are not as we once were)
could with one accord slip between sheets
or press hard against strong walls
    I'd be earnest in pleasing,
    even yearning,
    edacious in meeting your impulses
    or fulfilling fantasy
    and learning from every utterance
    that escapes as pleasure
both seduced and eager to gratify
split tongue to tongue then lip to lips
until a smile swells with wanton nerves
eased with tender tease into sexual suspense
still spirited in appreciation of this bashful charm
would quiver at me natural with honest want
and I would play primal and roughen at your whim
or when aspired to for sake of conciliating your desire
to be taken instead of coaxed, or even punished
turning you away and pounding out to rhythm
pull your hair behind that arching back,
    sharpness raw leaving you fevered
moaning for the both of us and
your round gaping mouth begging more
wanting to exist as one until
the lust subsides and breathing slows
I'd lean in until my chest grazes bare back
reach around and clench firm each breast
bury my head in your shoulder until we are
neck and neck spilling steam like fire breathers
nipping at star maps of sensory sweet spots
    tracing out the constellations
where your nape approaches earlobes and
trailing tongued kisses down your neckline
    before embracing you again accomplished
    boldly naked and unaffected
cast covers aside for better promise of your body
all flushed beauty, glowing, and I'd hold you close
lay sprawled first, entangled in euphoria
grow tender when all echos of our frenzied actions
    spent are rendered speechless
My sternum serves a cradle for you to rest your crown
heavy from being balanced on the edge of eternity
    and falling in
