    dotsold, same thingdots

If I am to be a past
I want to be with you as a child
when the sky is the farthest our eyes could see
and the moon our greatest mystery
    Why did we grow up?
You stayed too close to your backyard
I fear the nothingness for you
that cold cup of coffee at your mercy
    while in dirty old pajamas
    the mornings are frequent
    the nights are long
same old thing that hangs outside your door
    I never did
at least not in the present
    time has escaped me
moments recur like a monotone in my head
    I must have loved you
enough to wish to love you another day.

Haha, it's good to see this place still has some life in it, see some familiar names still posting here. I haven't written anything in a long, long time but this has inspired me: I gotta find an old poem I haven't posted here and post it. I enjoyed the nostalgia that emanates from your poem, you writing that it's 10 years old makes it even more nostalgic...

It means a lot to them, as it does to you.
